Camp Sangre Valiente

Every summer, Sangre de Oro hosts a camp for children diagnosed with a blood disorder, siblings of children with bleeding disorders (both step and adopted), and children of individuals with bleeding disorders.

The purpose of Camp is to provide kids with a fun-free getaway where they can engage in activities, in an environment, that is safe. Camp  always has a medical staff on hand, including one physician, two nurses, a social worker, and a physical trainer. Parents and kids can rest-easy knowing that if any medical issue should arise, it will be attended to immediately. The medical staff also works with the children on learning how to infuse. All campers are directed to take any necessary medication before all daily activities in order to prevent a bleeding emergency.

They will not have to worry about their disorder preventing them from having an awesome time!

Activities at Camp Sangre Valiente:
  • Archery
  • Water Slide
  • Ropes Course
  • Horseback Riding
  • Zip Line (Single and Double)
  • Electric Cars
  • Riflery
  • Big Swing
  • Rodeo

Campers will also have an opportunity to work with counselors and other specialists to develop strategies for dealing with the social issues that can be a part of life with a blood disorder. Older campers, particularly those involved in the Leaders in Training Program or Counselors in Training, are encouraged to participate in discussions and sessions pertaining to college preparation.ScaryCats

Camp is for children ages 7-17 and is free of charge for all participants.
